Lion Habitat Ranch: Ozzie the Giraffe Collaborates with a Classical Painter

The Lion Habitat Ranch, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is a venue that is one of the unintentionally best-kept secrets of all the great Las Vegas attractions.

Located just off St. Rose Parkway and Bermuda, a couple blocks east of Las Vegas Blvd. the Lion Habitat Ranch gives visitors a chance to learn about and get up close to wild animals, something that they couldn’t do anywhere else in Nevada. Summer hours are Friday through Monday 10AM to 2 PM with the last entrance at 1:30PM.

This is the home of the lions that were part of the exhibit at the MGM Grand and the lions basically lost their job when the exhibit was closed, so now they reside in the Lion Habitat Ranch alongside rescued Ostriches, Emus, Macaws and the only giraffe in Nevada, Ozzie.

Not only is Ozzie a wonderful attraction for students, tourists, and locals alike to get up close, feed and learn about, he can also actually paint custom pictures on canvas.

Recently Ozzie collaborated on a painting with renowned classical painter, Donovan Fitzgerald.  Ozzie designed the structure and Donovan filled in the areas on the painting, which ended up being a cool landscape rendering. The video below shows them in action.

The painting shown in the video, and a vast collection of other paintings can be seen at Vignettes Art, an art gallery at 1714 Horizon Ridge Parkway #100, Henderson, NV 89012.
