Experience Does Matter

Recently, we’ve been hearing from potential clients who are looking to book video production at the lowest possible cost they can find and don’t realize that video isn’t a commodity like buying a loaf of bread but more like hiring a plastic surgeon where you want the best results. I’m sure you’ll agree you wouldn’t want your cheeks up at your forehead from an inexperienced surgeon and just like in this example, you wouldn’t want a video that looks amateurish and doesn’t accomplish your goals making a bad impression on you or your company. Experience does matter.

An Example of Experience

A story that points this up is about a shipyard where a ship was dry docked because one of its massive propeller shafts had jammed.  Nobody there could get it free, but they heard of an expert on this type of problem and brought him in to fix it.

He came in with only a hammer, walked along the propeller shaft, and hit it in a certain spot with the hammer.  Lo and behold the propeller shaft freed up.  The dry dock supervisor asked for a bill and the expert said, “That will be $10,000”.  The supervisor gasped and said, “all you did is hit it with a hammer”. The expert replied, “That’s true, but you are paying for my years of experience knowing exactly where to hit it and how hard”.

Once You Hire Someone and They Don’t Do a Good Job – It’s Too Late

The same principle applies to hiring a video company.  Because cameras can be inexpensive there are many charismatic, convincing people who get out of school, buy equipment and claim to be video producers, work out of their bedroom, have little experience, aren’t licensed, aren’t insured but work cheaply.  Once a job is finished, it’s too late if the footage isn’t good and many of these people won’t be in business very long.  But the client is stuck with what is delivered.  Typically, these people are “one-man band” freelancers with little overhead instead of full-production companies with much more resources and yes, the overhead that goes with a full-service operation.

How Aardvark Video is Different

At Aardvark Video, we are different from just hiring a freelancer and hoping for the best.  With over 33 years of experience, we know what works and doesn’t; have the right equipment to do just about any job, can go through all the options with a client, and engineer a job to get the best results.  We also help the client with the entire planning process, supervise, and have technicians who are very professional and know how to interact with clients to make the process as easy and stress-free as possible.  All this extra “value-added” is bundled into our pricing.

Customers love us because we are very professional, easy to work with, flexible and we know how to achieve the results they are looking for. THIS is what some of our clients appreciate about working with us.

To anyone that is looking to just pay as little as possible be careful, the old adage, “You get what you pay for” often becomes buyer’s remorse.
